An Array of Retirement Living Options
For those who crave independence and wish to spend their retirement in an environment that encourages socialization and self-sufficiency, Vancouver offers 14 retirement and independent living communities. These establishments often offer amenities such as activities, fitness centers, and event halls, which allow residents to thrive and lead fulfilling lives.
Assisted Living: When a Helping Hand is Needed
Clark County is home to 31 assisted living communities, which serve to support individuals who may need some assistance with day-to-day activities but still want to maintain a degree of independence. The services range from medication management and personal care to housekeeping and transportation.
Specialized Care for Memory Loss
Memory care centers are an essential part of the network, and Clark County supports 8 of them. These centers are specifically designed to cater to the needs of individuals suffering from Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia, providing specialized care and a safe environment. Dozens of small homes specializing in dementia care also exist in Vancouver.
Adult Care Homes: A home-like setting for those requiring moderate to high levels of care
One of the gems of Clark County's elder care options is its extensive network of adult care homes, with an abundance of 420 options available. These homes offer a spectrum of care that includes aiding individuals with physical frailties and assisting those with memory loss. The smaller setting of these homes often provides a more intimate and focused level of care.
Quality Standards
Quality of care is paramount. Of the 420 residential care communities:
24% of the homes exceed our expectations
54% of the homes meet our expectations
20% fall below our expectations and are only offered as options to older adults that are receiving state assistance to pay for care.
1.4% of the homes (6 in total) are not contracted with our agency. These are homes that offer unique care for individuals needing care from head injuries or are on ventilators.
4 homes choose not to contract with 1st CHOICE as they have long waiting lists and would not be able to accommodate a new resident; or they simply don’t need to receive referrals.
